Notes from the workbench.

A running log of what I'm learning while shipping production web software — usually the ugly middle between "it works on my machine" and "it's on the internet."

This section exists because a portfolio without writing is a showreel without a voice. Case studies describe what I built; these notes describe how and why, and what I got wrong first.

What I write about

  • Production realities. What broke in the first week. What the metrics looked like at 3am. The unglamorous knobs that actually moved the needle.
  • Craft. Tooling choices, refactors I'm proud of, migrations that went sideways.
  • Decisions, not demos. Why Vue over React for this site. Why Laravel for half my clients. Why plain SQL beats the ORM for the last 15% of queries.

Format

Short. Mostly under 800 words. If I can't say it in a couple of screens, I probably haven't understood it yet.

New notes land here roughly twice a month. Subscribe via the RSS feed if that's still your thing — it is mine.
