Automated trading on Cardano
/ The brief

Trafkin needed an automated trading bot that could monitor Cardano DEX pools and execute strategies faster than a human could react — in a language that could be audited and trusted with wallet keys.

/ Overview

At Trafkin, I contributed to building an automated trading bot operating on the Cardano blockchain. The bot used Rust for high-performance execution, GraphQL for querying blockchain state, and the Blockfrost API for interacting with Cardano DEXes. The system monitored price movements, executed trades based on configurable strategies, and managed wallet interactions securely.

/ Approach
/01

Rust for execution

Memory safety and zero-cost abstractions matter when the process is holding private keys and making sub-second decisions on live liquidity.

/02

GraphQL + Blockfrost for chain reads

Blockfrost covers the Cardano indexing surface; GraphQL lets each strategy fetch exactly the shape it needs — no over-fetching, no ad-hoc REST calls.

/03

Strategy layer isolated from execution

Trading logic lives in a separate module from the execution engine, so analysts can tune parameters without touching the low-level code.

/ Scope
  • Real-time price monitoring across Cardano DEX pairs
  • Configurable strategy parameters
  • Secure wallet key handling
